Description:Once the locomotive is ready to be left alone, I get out and walk down the walkway to see how big of an oil mess I had made. That was an "Oh shit" moment, cause the conductor and I had no idea what just happened. No big deal, right? My conductor goes back out and uncouples the locomotive and I pull it ahead so another crew can drag our dying behemoth to the shops. The SD didn't sound overly healthy, and the exhaust looked pretty black, but I figured it was because they're old locomotives and that this one just wasn't properly maintained.
