Description:That show celebrates it 33rd anniversary this year. In addition, the Lick Mout' Lou character has spawned imitations in various sections of the media over the years. I believe we need to place this work in the context of Barbadian fictional writings and to demonstrate its capacity to engage serious and sustained thought. This was an academically risky, but I felt worthwhile, endeavour. These are absolutely not normally thought of in the same breath! Nevertheless, I argue in the thesis that Lamming employed strategies in the writing of his classic novel In The Castle Of My Skin, which put him and Jeannette Layne-Clark as fellow participants in a common tradition.
